# Mibyan Desktop reference

> The complete reference for Mibyan Desktop and the agent behind it: install, the desktop app, connections, bots, messaging, skills, automation, security, configuration, and the developer guide

This section is the full reference for **Mibyan Desktop** and the Mibyan agent it runs. It goes deeper than the [Desktop guide](/products/desktop-guide/install-and-update) under Products: every feature, every command, every configuration key, and the developer documentation for extending the app.

Mibyan Desktop, the Mibyan command line, the terminal UI, the web dashboard, and the messaging gateway all drive the **same agent**. Configuration, API keys, sessions, skills, and memory are shared, so what you set up in one place is already there in the others.

<Note>
  Mibyan Desktop is built on an open-source agent core. This reference is adapted from that project's documentation. A few pages describe options of the underlying core that your Mibyan account or build may not expose, and pages that mention installers, package names, or container images describe the open-source project. For the supported Mibyan install and update path, use [Install and update](/products/desktop-guide/install-and-update).

## Command line quick reference

If you already have the Mibyan command line, the same agent powers the desktop app.

| Command | What it does |
| - | - |
| `mibyan` | Start an interactive conversation in the terminal |
| `mibyan desktop` | Build and launch Mibyan Desktop against your existing install |
| `mibyan model` | Choose your model provider and model |
| `mibyan tools` | Choose which tools are enabled |
| `mibyan gateway` | Start the messaging gateway |
| `mibyan setup` | Run the full setup wizard |
| `mibyan update` | Update to the latest version |
| `mibyan doctor` | Diagnose problems |

The [CLI commands reference](/desktop/reference/cli-commands) lists every subcommand and flag.
